Excellent one and very moving. I'm going to post a link in my blog on on Facebook with recommendations that people listen (and catch up on the previous episodes).

I recommend a look at David Drake's current book from Tor--the first of a trilogy for a alternate (fantasy) Rome. Drake translates Latin 'for fun", indeed, he brought books to basic training and then to Vietnam to work on. He's an interesting guy.

I am happy that you like it. I had a few family issues that prevented me from being more timely. I am working on the next one which is called: "I'm the Emperor, and you're not."

I am wondering from your statement: "I burned the podcast to cd so my husband could listen it" meant that your husband was in service and now deployed? If so, I wish you both the best.

Amazing. I was getting impatient waiting for the next podcast. (I know they take time, but they're so good I hate to wait!!) But this was well worth the wait: informative, evocative, humbling and moving. Thanks so much. I burned the podcast to cd so my husband could listen to it.

I have religiously read her work. I am hoping to do just that. I don't exactly remember the name of the book, but it dealt with a massive bronzed hand found from a huge statue. At the time I was visiting England and made time to visit the London Museum. I found the very hand that Lindsey Davis wrote about and described in her novel, and she indicated in the flyleaf that it was at the London Museum that she first saw it and it was that artifact that inspired her to write the book.

Thanks for the interview with Steven Saylor, it was good to hear what he sounds like. If I might make a suggestion, how about an interview with Lindsey Davis for all the Falcophiles amongst your listeners with similar questions where appropriate so we can hear the similarities and differences between their approaches to Rome?

BTW, have you seen CARRY ON CLEO? It's a very similar sort of humour to UP POMPEII, and has what one poll proclaimed as the funniest movie line ever.
